Event Details

WordChalk is a small group class where you learn straight from an expert. Open discussion is welcomed, and students enjoy sharing and learning together. Bring your laptop and follow along, or just bring a pen and paper to take notes.

Can't attend locally? Add the Web Pass and you can attend remotely. An email with instructions will be emailed to you on how to participate with the class right in your browser window.

Class 1 - WordPress 101: How to Install, Setup, and Use WordPress

9am - 12pm

This class is for everyone from the beginner blogger, to those that already have experience working with websites. We will discover how to get a self hosted WordPress blog installed, and cover every inch of every setting. We'll also discuss some of the most essential plugins that I recommend, and how to get started with a free or premium theme.

Prerequisites: If you want to follow along in installing and setting up your own WordPress site, you will need to already have your own hosting space and bring your laptop. No programming or design skills are required.

Class 2 - WordPress Theme Essentials

1pm - 4pm

Ever wondered how themes work? This class will explain to you what's under the hood of all that shiny theme and how you can alter them to fit your needs.

Prerequisites: Programming experience is a must to understand the topics in this class, even if only HTML and CSS. We will go over some PHP and how to use and manipulate what is already working within WordPress. If you want to follow along, you should bring a laptop with your code editor of choice.

Other Information

If you're interested in taking both classes, be sure to buy the "All Day Pass" to get your 10% off instead of a ticket to both classes.

Students attending both classes get lunch for free! If you are only attending one class and would like to eat with us, feel free to also purchase a lunch ticket.

Students that register on or before March 11th will be emailed a lunch menu to select from. Students that register after that time, or do not respond to the lunch menu email by March 12th at 11 am will be ordered a generic lunch. So if you're a picky eater, then reigster early and watch for that lunch menu!
